An asteroid the size of Texas is on a collision course with Earth, and NASA decides its best shot is an oil driller who knows how to bore into dangerous ground. Bruce Willis is Harry Stamper, a veteran roughneck recruited to lead a desperate mission into space, with his own handpicked crew in tow. At NASA, Billy Bob Thornton’s Dan Truman tries to turn drillers into astronauts before time runs out, while Ben Affleck’s A.J. adds extra friction to Harry’s team and his family. Michael Bay stages the countdown as a globe-spanning disaster with blue-collar drillers at the center of the mission.
