ActionAdventureThriller137 min

After General Francis X. Hummel seizes Alcatraz and threatens San Francisco with chemical missiles, the government pairs an FBI chemical weapons expert with a notorious federal prisoner who may be the only man able to break into the island fortress. Nicolas Cage is the lab-trained specialist, shoved into a military operation far outside his comfort zone, while Sean Connery’s prisoner brings the history and know-how the mission needs. Ed Harris gives Hummel the bearing of a decorated officer turned hostage-taker, leading a squad of armed veterans through the prison’s tunnels, cells, and battlements as Michael Bay turns Alcatraz into a sealed combat zone.
