Mexican immigrant and single mother Flor Moreno takes a housekeeping job with the well-off Claskys, only to find work and family life colliding when the arrangement has to include her daughter, Cristina. Paz Vega is Flor, navigating Los Angeles, a language barrier, and the pressure of raising Cristina while living inside someone else’s household. Across from her, Adam Sandler’s John Clasky is a successful chef and devoted father in a marriage that’s already strained. When Flor and Cristina move into the family’s home for the summer, differences in class, culture, and parenting turn everyday routines into a series of uneasy negotiations.
