Harry Sanborn turns a weekend in the Hamptons into a standoff when he shows up with his much younger girlfriend at her mother’s beach house. Jack Nicholson is Harry, a wealthy music executive and committed bachelor whose smug routine gets interrupted by a sudden health scare. Diane Keaton’s Erica Barry, a successful, divorced New York playwright, ends up looking after the last man she wants in her home. As forced proximity softens their hostility, Erica also finds herself courted by Harry’s younger doctor, shifting the whole arrangement into an awkward, funny, and unexpectedly vulnerable triangle.
