Which Way Is Up?
Comedy94 min
Orange picker Leroy Jones accidentally becomes a union leader, gets run out of town, and lands in Los Angeles with his marriage already fraying. Richard Pryor is Leroy, and he also turns up as Leroy’s sex-obsessed father Rufus and the sanctimonious Rev. Lenox Thomas, whose attention drifts toward the wife Leroy left behind. As Leroy falls for a union organizer in the city, the film keeps braiding labor politics with adultery and family chaos, sending Pryor ricocheting between three connected men and the trouble they make for one another.
