A modest factory worker buys an 8mm camera to film his newborn daughter, expecting nothing more than a family keepsake. Instead, the act of recording opens up a new way of seeing his town, his job, and the people around him, and amateur filmmaking quickly becomes the center of his life. As he starts shooting for the factory and gains attention for his work, the hobby that once felt innocent begins to pull at his marriage, his duties, and his sense of what should be shown on screen. Jerzy Stuhr plays the man as his private curiosity turns into an obsession with public consequences.
