The Return
Drama111 min
In contemporary Russia, two young brothers are jolted by the return of a father they know only from an old photograph. Vladimir Garin and Ivan Dobronravov are the wary boys at the center, while Konstantin Lavronenko is the stranger suddenly reclaiming authority as he takes them away from home on a trip to a remote island. What begins as a reunion turns into an uneasy test of trust and obedience, moving through open water, rough terrain, and long stretches of silence as the brothers measure themselves against a man they barely know and their mother reluctantly lets them go.
