Lesley Manville's Mrs. Harris is a widowed cleaning lady in 1950s London who becomes determined to own a Christian Dior gown after seeing one up close. To raise the money, she saves, goes without, and takes a gamble that carries her from postwar London to Paris and into the rarefied world of haute couture. There, her plainspoken persistence collides with the rules and hierarchies around the House of Dior, with Isabelle Huppert and Lambert Wilson among the figures in her path.
