King Lear

ComedyDramaSci-Fi90 min

After a catastrophe has wiped out culture, fragments of Shakespeare’s King Lear drift through a broken modern world. Lear, Cordelia, and Edgar remain, but the familiar tragedy is splintered into disconnected scenes, stray lines, and absurd encounters that keep interrupting any stable version of the story. What begins with a recognizable rendering of the opening division of the kingdom quickly breaks apart into an avant-garde collage, where characters search for lost language and art itself seems damaged. Jean-Luc Godard turns the play into a satirical, post-apocalyptic riff on authorship, memory, and what survives when the original text can no longer hold together.
