Fresh out of West Point, Lt. Jeff Knight arrives at a Vietnamese trench camp to command a platoon of combat-weary veterans who have little patience for a new officer or the Army manual he brings with him. Michael Dudikoff is Knight, learning quickly that patrols, ambushes, and village politics don’t fit classroom rules, while Sgt. Michael McNamara (Michael DeLorenzo) embodies the enlisted skepticism he has to win over. As the fighting closes in, the platoon is caught between the Vietcong and the civilians they’re supposed to protect, never sure who is collaborating with whom.
