Lady Libertine
DramaRomance83 min
On the road to Portsmouth in turn-of-the-century England, young aristocrat Charlie takes in a boy named Frank, unaware that the runaway is actually Frances in disguise after fleeing a brothel. Christopher Pearson is Charlie, whose act of rescue brings Frank into his home and into his confidence. Jennifer Inch's Frances keeps up the masquerade as long as she can, until her identity comes to light and the arrangement turns into a romance. With its period setting and cross-dressed central deception, the film builds its story around class difference, secrecy, and the shifting bond between a sheltered nobleman and the young woman he thought he understood.
