The Blue Dahlia

CrimeDramaMysteryThriller96 min

Back from the war, a veteran finds his home life shattered, and when his unfaithful wife is found dead, he becomes the prime suspect. Alan Ladd is the ex-serviceman trying to stay ahead of the police long enough to find the actual killer, while Veronica Lake enters the story as a sympathetic stranger who helps him navigate the case. William Bendix appears as his fellow veteran and uneasy companion, adding another volatile presence to the search. Directed by George Marshall from an original screenplay by Raymond Chandler, the film builds its mystery around suspicion, damaged loyalties, and postwar dislocation.
