In Apulia, Saverio sees a path to the land he wants for a holiday resort by getting engaged to Clotilde, the troubled teenage daughter of a wealthy noblewoman who can finance the project. Gigi Proietti’s Saverio treats the match as a calculation, even arranging to have Clotilde abducted and sexually assaulted so he can break off the marriage once she is no longer a virgin. Teresa Ann Savoy is Clotilde, volatile and unpredictable at the center of the scheme, while Irene Papas’s Raimonda looms over the arrangement as the mother with the money and the power.
