Chow Yun-Fat is Jeffrey, an elite Hong Kong assassin whose latest hit leaves nightclub singer Jennie (Sally Yeh) blinded in the crossfire. Ready to retire, he agrees to one last job to pay for the operation that could restore her sight, but a double-cross puts him at odds with both the mob and the police. Danny Lee’s rogue detective has been tracking Jeffrey, and the two are forced into an uneasy alliance when the job unravels. Directed by John Woo, the film centers on a hired gun with a strict moral code moving through a city shaped by corruption, loyalty, and violence.
