After a shoot-out with gun smugglers leaves him without his partner, Chow Yun-Fat is a Hong Kong police inspector determined to bring down an arms ring. His path crosses with Tony Leung Chiu-wai’s undercover cop, a hitman embedded deep inside the gang, and the two men are forced into an uneasy alliance as they close in on the ring’s leaders. Directed by John Woo, the film follows police raids, shifting loyalties, and the violence of the city’s criminal underworld as both cops try to stay ahead of mob bosses, informants, and each other.
