State of the Union
ComedyDrama124 min
An industrialist is pushed toward a Republican presidential run, and the closer he gets to the nomination, the more his public image and private life become bargaining chips. Spencer Tracy is the businessman at the center of the campaign, with Katharine Hepburn as the wife pulled back into the spotlight while party figures and advisers try to manage both marriage and message. Frank Capra’s 1948 film turns the road to the White House into a contest of ambition, infidelity, and back-room maneuvering.
