In New Jersey, a man scarred by childhood abuse finds his one steady source of love and protection in his dogs. Caleb Landry Jones is the bruised, volatile center of the story, living on the margins and clinging to the animals that give his life structure and purpose. Jojo T. Gibbs appears alongside him as the film moves through crime, punishment, and the aftermath of a brutal upbringing. Luc Besson’s take keeps its focus on that bond between man and animal, with bursts of violence, tenderness, and performance woven into the character’s life.
