A rare parade of the planets disrupts the routines of several Soviet men — an astrophysicist, locksmith, salesman, architect, loader, and trolleybus driver — who are called up for military training, only to be sent back early into an unexpected stretch of unclaimed time. Oleg Borisov is among the ensemble, with Aleksey Zharkov moving through the same strange interval where work has stopped, home feels distant, and no one is quite sure where to go next. As their ordinary schedules fall away, the film follows the emotions and encounters that surface in that brief suspension from everyday life.
