Too Late for Tears

CrimeDramaThriller99 min

After a suitcase stuffed with $60,000 falls into her hands, Lizabeth Scott is Jane Palmer, a woman who won’t let it go even as her husband Alan wants the money turned over to the police. Arthur Kennedy’s Alan sees trouble in the windfall; Jane sees a chance at the life she wants. When Danny Fuller (Dan Duryea) turns up claiming the cash is his, the couple’s uneasy argument becomes a deeper tangle of lies, suspicion, and mounting danger. Jane’s refusal to give up the money drives this 1949 noir toward a cold, hard portrait of greed inside an ordinary marriage.
