I Want to Live!

CrimeDrama120 min

Barbara Graham is a habitual offender trying to go straight when she’s implicated in a murder and sent to death row. Susan Hayward is Graham, introduced as brash and restless, then hemmed in by a case where her record and public image seem to matter as much as the evidence. Reporter Ed Montgomery (Simon Oakland), whose early coverage helped turn her into a headline, begins to question the conviction and push back against the rush to execute her. Robert Wise’s film follows the case from tabloid notoriety to prison confinement, keeping Barbara at the center as the machinery of capital punishment closes in.
