After the crucifixion, Roman tribune Clavius is ordered to find out what happened to the body of Jesus before rumors of a risen messiah ignite unrest in Jerusalem. Joseph Fiennes is Clavius, a battle-hardened officer sent to question witnesses, secure the tomb, and report back to a nervous Roman authority. At his side is Tom Felton’s Lucius, a younger aide watching his commander pick through fear, politics, and conflicting accounts across Judea. The story moves through the days after Jesus’s death from the viewpoint of a Roman investigator trying to contain a crisis he does not believe in.
