After the Third Crusade, archer Robin Longstride returns to England carrying a dead knight’s sword and a promise to deliver it to the man’s family in Nottingham. Russell Crowe is Robin, a battle-worn soldier who steps into Robert of Loxley’s identity, while Cate Blanchett’s Marion meets him with skepticism as well as need. What begins as a deception draws Robin into the Loxley household and into a wider fight with Nottingham’s sheriff and Godfrey, a hard-edged enforcer working for King John. Ridley Scott reworks the legend as a medieval tale of war, shifting loyalties, and a country sliding toward unrest.
