After a late-night encounter, a publishing executive becomes convinced he’s been bitten by a vampire and begins to unravel, dragging his overworked secretary into the chaos. Nicolas Cage is the executive, turning office routines and romantic fixations into scenes of mounting mania, while Jennifer Beals is the woman at the center of his obsession. As deadlines slip and paranoia grows, his assistant (Kasi Lemmons) bears the brunt of his demands, and sessions with his psychiatrist, played by Elizabeth Ashley, leave open whether anything supernatural is happening at all.
