Metropolis

DramaSci-Fi153 min

In a futuristic city split between the ruling elite above and the workers below, the son of the city’s mastermind is drawn into the underground after meeting a young prophet who speaks of a mediator between the two worlds. Gustav Fröhlich is the sheltered heir awakening to the human cost of the machines around him, while Brigitte Helm gives the woman at the center of the unrest an uncanny stillness. Fritz Lang builds the conflict through expressionist cityscapes, vast machine halls, and regimented crowds, as class tension, invention, and a robot figure turn the city’s divide into open crisis.
