On Chicago’s Near North Side in 1964, high school seniors Preach and Cochise spend their days chasing girls, dodging school trouble, and talking about what comes after graduation. Glynn Turman is Preach, an aspiring writer with bad grades and a head full of poetry; Lawrence Hilton-Jacobs gives Cochise the easy confidence of a neighborhood basketball star. Around them are girlfriends, parties, teachers like Mr. Mason (Garrett Morris), and the push and pull of leaving school behind. Then a false arrest connected to a stolen Cadillac knocks both friends off course during their final year.
