Aging wrestler Randy “The Ram” Robinson is years removed from his 1980s fame, scraping by in New Jersey on autograph signings and punishing independent matches when a health scare forces him out of the ring. Mickey Rourke is Randy, trying to build something steadier with Marisa Tomei’s Cassidy and reconnect with his estranged daughter (Evan Rachel Wood). Away from the spotlight, he takes a supermarket job and faces how little of his life exists beyond the persona that made him famous. Even as he tries to start over, the crowd, the punishment, and the ring itself keep pulling him toward a comeback.
