Young Rosaleen drifts into a dream of a village ringed by dark woods, where her grandmother fills the firelight with cautionary tales about wolves that are hairy on the inside. Sarah Patterson is Rosaleen, poised between childhood and womanhood, while Angela Lansbury’s Granny turns each warning into another layer of the dream. Drawing on Angela Carter’s reworking of Little Red Riding Hood, the film moves through storybook cottages, moonlit forests, and werewolf folklore as Rosaleen begins to wonder whether the dangers in her grandmother’s stories are meant only for fairy tales.
