C. Thomas Howell’s Jim is a young driver ferrying a luxury car from Chicago to California when, on a stormy highway, he makes one bad decision: picking up a stranger. Rutger Hauer is the hitchhiker, a calm, elusive killer who keeps resurfacing across the back roads of West Texas, leaving bodies behind and pushing Jim into the crosshairs of the police. Gas stations, truck stops, and empty stretches of road become traps as Jim tries to stay ahead of a man who seems to appear out of nowhere and vanish just as quickly.
