Eccentricities of a Blonde-Haired Girl
DramaRomance64 min
In Lisbon, a young accountant becomes fixated on a blonde woman he glimpses through a window and sets out to court her despite the objections around him. Their meetings turn a passing attraction into a determined romance, but money, class, and family pressure keep intruding on what he imagines as a simple match. As he tries to prove himself worthy, each step forward brings another small humiliation or warning sign, and his idealized view of the woman begins to meet the harder facts of marriage and social expectation. Directed by Manoel de Oliveira, the film follows this courtship as desire collides with practicality and misread character.
