At an Uncertain Time
Drama72 min
In 1942 Portugal, with dictatorship tightening its grip and war pressing at the border, a state security inspector shelters two French refugees in his home. Their arrival turns the household into a maze of secrecy: his authority offers cover, but jealousy, half-truths, and mistrust begin to threaten everyone under the same roof. Joana Ribeiro, Paulo Pires, and Judith Davis lead a story where political surveillance and private desire keep colliding, as the inspector’s family, the refugees, and the domestic staff are drawn into the same atmosphere of suspicion.
