Anas, a former rapper, takes a job teaching hip-hop at a community center in a hard-pressed Casablanca neighborhood, where his demanding methods spark a rush of talent among local students. Anas Basbousi and Ismail Adouab are part of a mostly newcomer ensemble drawn into the class’s battles over identity, religion, family pressure, and politics. As rehearsals and writing sessions take shape in contemporary Casablanca, the music becomes a way for the students to argue, connect, and push back against the traditions closing in around them.
