Sofiane, a young Algerian student living in Lyon, is thrown into limbo after an administrative decision leaves him under threat of deportation. Hoping to regularize his situation, he agrees to work at a Muslim funeral parlour, where the routines of burial and mourning sit alongside his classes, nights out and shifting sense of home. Hamza Meziani is Sofiane, moving through a life shaped by travel, paperwork and family history. As the job pulls him into a community he hasn’t fully claimed, the film follows his uneasy passage toward adulthood and a more settled idea of who he is.
