Black Snake Moan

Drama116 min

After finding a badly beaten young woman by the roadside, a Mississippi bluesman brings her home and decides to keep her close, convinced he can pull her out of a destructive spiral. Samuel L. Jackson is the deeply religious musician at the center of it, rooted in the region’s blues tradition, while Christina Ricci’s troubled drifter moves through sex, drink, and the aftermath of childhood abuse in search of affection that never lasts. The story stays close to their uneasy, volatile bond, with the music and setting tying the drama to rural Mississippi.
