CrimeDocumentaryDramaFamilyRomance98 min

After a young man in Tehran is arrested for impersonating filmmaker Mohsen Makhmalbaf and convincing a family they would appear in his next film, the case becomes the basis for a hybrid of documentary, courtroom record, and reenactment. Makhmalbaf and Abolfazl Ahankhah are among the real people from the incident appearing as themselves, with trial footage and restaged scenes folded together. As the film retraces the fraud accusation and the arrest, it keeps returning to the pull of movies, the appeal of borrowed identities, and the uneasy line between performance and truth.
