Biutiful

DramaRomance148 min

Javier Bardem is Uxbal, a Barcelona fixer and single father of two who makes his living around the city’s underground labor market and street-level crime. When he learns he is terminally ill, he tries to put his affairs in order while caring for his children, managing fractured ties to their mother, and looking after the immigrant workers caught up in his world. Uxbal is also marked by an uneasy connection to the dead, giving Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s film one foot in the city’s back alleys and another in the afterlife.
