The Son
Drama123 min
Hugh Jackman is Peter, a successful lawyer whose life with his new partner and infant son is disrupted when his ex-wife asks him to take in their teenage son, Nicholas. Zen McGrath’s Nicholas has been skipping school for months and moves through the apartment angry, distant, and hard to reach, while Peter tries to balance work, a new family, and old wounds from his own upbringing. Laura Dern and Vanessa Kirby are at the center of the strained family dynamic as the film stays close to tense conversations, missed signals, and the widening gap between what the adults think they can manage and what Nicholas is actually living through.
