The Story of Louis Pasteur

Drama86 min

Louis Pasteur challenges 19th-century France’s medical establishment with a theory many dismiss as dangerous nonsense: microbes spread disease, and sanitation and vaccination can save lives. Paul Muni is Pasteur, pursuing experiments that put him at odds with skeptical doctors, government officials, and a public slow to accept unseen causes. As outbreaks of anthrax and rabies sharpen the stakes, Fritz Leiber’s Dr. Charbonnet emerges as one of his fiercest opponents, and a crisis involving Pasteur’s own family pulls the argument out of lecture halls and into immediate practice.
