Murder, My Sweet
CrimeDramaMysteryThriller95 min
When private detective Philip Marlowe takes a job from a hulking ex-con looking for an old girlfriend, the case widens fast into blackmail, murder, and a maze of shifting stories. Dick Powell is Marlowe, dry-eyed and quick with a comeback even as each lead drags him deeper into danger. Claire Trevor and Anne Shirley turn up on opposite edges of the mystery, both tied to a world of wealthy clients, hidden motives, and a beach house where nothing stays simple for long. The plotting keeps Marlowe off balance as the trail doubles back on itself and every answer opens another question.
