The Killers
CrimeDramaMysteryThriller105 min
Two hired killers walk into a small-town diner looking for a man called the Swede, and when they find him, he doesn’t run. Burt Lancaster is the ex-boxer whose murder sends insurance investigator Jim Reardon (Edmond O’Brien) back through a trail of robberies, aliases, and double-crosses. As Reardon pieces together the Swede’s last months, Ava Gardner’s Kitty Collins comes into view: elegant, elusive, and tied to the job that pulled him in. Robert Siodmak’s noir moves through shifting accounts and flashbacks, tracing how a man waiting for death got there in the first place.
