Lisa Frankenstein
ComedyHorrorRomance101 min
In 1989, misunderstood teenager Lisa develops a crush on the wrong boy: a handsome Victorian-era corpse in the local cemetery. When a bizarre accident brings him back to life, her fantasy turns into a gory high school romance with a body count. Kathryn Newton is Lisa, all alienation, longing, and bad timing, while Cole Sprouse gives the reanimated boy a mute, stiff-limbed presence that keeps the joke and the horror side by side. As the two chase love and a more complete body for him, the film mixes suburbia, prom-night angst, and graveyard gothic with a playful streak of violence.
