An Irish cabby in the Bronx watches his hard-saved nest egg vanish when his wife turns their daughter’s simple wedding plan into something much larger. Ernest Borgnine is Tom, a taxi driver finally close to owning his own cab and license, while Bette Davis is the wife whose ideas about family pride and ceremony keep raising the stakes. Debbie Reynolds appears as Jane, the bride who wanted a small wedding with her fiancé Ralph and little else. What begins as a modest family announcement soon becomes a tug-of-war over money, expectations, and who gets to decide what a wedding should look like.
