Woody Allen is Val Waxman, a once-celebrated Hollywood director whose last shot at a comeback comes with a catch: the new film is being produced by his ex-wife. With Tea Leoni’s Ellie overseeing the project, Val returns to the industry that already considers him finished—then, on the eve of shooting, develops a case of psychosomatic blindness. Forced to hide what’s happening while cameras are about to roll, he stumbles through production, old resentments, and the pressure of proving he still belongs in the movie business.
