Gabriel, a book editor, is pulled between his tangled love life and a harder obligation when his closest friend tells him he is dying. Mathieu Amalric is Gabriel, trying to stay present for François Cluzet’s Adrien while wavering between two very different relationships: the steadier Jenny (Jeanne Balibar) and the unpredictable Anne (Virginie Ledoyen). As Adrien’s illness settles over their circle, the film tracks conversations, affairs, and shifting loyalties among friends and lovers who are forced to take stock of their work, their attachments, and what they owe one another.
