A quiet Southern California suburb is rattled by a string of killings, each scene marked by a suspicious banana peel and rumors of something living in a cave. John Landis is the prehistoric, ape-like Schlockthropus at the center of the chaos, with Saul Kahan among the locals caught up in the hunt. When a group of teens spots the creature, the movie turns its monster-on-the-loose setup into a shaggy send-up of 1950s creature features, mixing cave-dwelling mayhem with deadpan suburban panic.
