In 1970, after a plane crash kills members of Marshall University’s football team and supporters, the school and the town of Huntington are left to decide whether the program can continue at all. Matthew McConaughey is Jack Lengyel, the new coach brought in to rebuild the Thundering Herd, with Matthew Fox and Anthony Mackie among those carrying the loss onto the field. Drawn from a true story, the film stays with the aftermath as surviving players, students, and faculty try to keep the team alive.
