Jeff Marx wants to become a doctor, but when his grades keep him out of American medical school, he takes a chance on a medical program in a small Latin American dictatorship. Steve Guttenberg is the aspiring physician dropped into an unfamiliar campus where the pressure of exams sits alongside the watchful interest of dictator Ramon Madera. Alan Arkin and Julie Hagerty round out the ensemble as Jeff tries to navigate student life, cultural confusion, and a school environment shaped as much by politics as by medicine.
