Cadillac Records
Drama109 min
In Chicago from the 1940s into the 1960s, Leonard Chess builds a record label by betting on Black musicians whose sound is changing American music. As Chess Records grows, the film follows the artists who pass through its studio, including Muddy Waters and Etta James, as hits, ambition, and personal struggles pull them in different directions. Success brings money and national attention, but it also exposes the pressures around race, ownership, addiction, and who profits from the music. Adrien Brody and Beyoncé appear within a story about a label’s rise and the costs that come with turning raw talent into a business.
