Ray

Drama152 min

Born on a sharecropping plantation in Northern Florida and blinded at seven, Ray Charles grows from a fiercely self-reliant child into a pianist and singer who reshapes American music. Jamie Foxx is Ray, following his path from the Southern club circuit to national fame as he brings gospel, blues, and country into a new sound. Kerry Washington and Regina King are part of the orbit around him as his career and personal life widen. Moving through recording studios, buses, backstage rooms, and the music business across the mid-20th century, the film tracks the rise of an artist whose ear keeps pushing past every boundary around him.
