Death of a Gunfighter

DramaWestern100 min

In turn-of-the-century Cottonwood Springs, Texas, marshal Frank Patch has kept order with an older kind of frontier justice—until a self-defense killing gives the town’s leaders a reason to push him out. Richard Widmark is Patch, a stubborn lawman who refuses to resign when businessmen and politicians decide he no longer fits their plans for a more modern town. Lena Horne’s saloon owner stands close to the conflict as pressure builds around him. What starts as a political effort to replace an embarrassment turns into a standoff between a man who knows the town’s secrets and the respectable citizens who want him gone.
