The Hours

DramaRomance114 min

Across three eras, three women find their lives circling the same book, Mrs. Dalloway. In 1920s England, Virginia Woolf (Nicole Kidman) wrestles with depression as she writes the novel; in 1951 California, Julianne Moore's Laura Brown is a pregnant housewife adrift in her marriage; and in 2001 New York, Meryl Streep is Clarissa Vaughan, planning a party for her longtime friend Richard, a poet living with AIDS. Their stories move between domestic routine, private despair, and small acts of connection, linked by Woolf's words and by each woman's search for a life that feels bearable.
